Guide for Application

Mostly people face difficulty in this region, in this guide, i ll explain you the step by step guide in how to apply for the NBDE part 1 examination. 

                                  Application Steps

Graduation

Well basically, you have to actually be graduated from a dental school or university. Doesn't matter where you got your degree from or if it is a temporary certificate or not, as long as it is translated it into English and recognized in your country, it is considered and accepted.

Evaluation

So your got your dental degree and you want to apply to the NBDE Part 1 Examination, well basically you can apply directly with your certification, the problem is they won’t accept it on the basis that they don’t know if your degree is authentic or forged.
This is what the ECE ( Educational Credential  Evaluators) is here for, they evaluate your educational credentials and state if its authentic or not. In addition, they give its equivalence to the  US educational System, in other words they say what your degree means in the USA.
  • Go to Here.
  • Click Start New Application.
  • Request a course by course evaluation
  • Once this is done, you will have to print a document and fill it with written signature, name  and back information.
  • Finally you have two choices:
    • Fax them the Printed paper and your dental degree, after they receive and start the procedure they will ask that the original documents be sent to them by mail directly.
    • You sent the Printed paper and dental degree together directly to them by mail. ( Best Method)
    • It will take roughly 3-4 weeks for the report to be issued. The depends on the speed and type of method you mailed the degree to ECE ( Normal Mail vs Premium Mail). i used DHL.
  • Make sure the report is sent to Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE), there address is:

    When sending the certificates, I hope you have more than one copy!

    Application

    While you wait for the ECE report to reach the JCNDE. you should apply for the NBDE Part 1 exam, by going to the link.
    • Read the Guides:
    • Apply For DENTPIN, read my guide here How to Register for DENTPIN.
    • Pay for the NBDE Part 1 Fees (260$).
    • You will have to wait for the ECE report to reach the JCNDE, once they receive it they will confirm it by Email.
    • After they receive it, it will take a few days for them to give you the Eligibility to the take the exam, they will inform you by Email.
    • Once your receive the eligibility letter and number, they will inform you by mail how to apply for the exam.

    Examination

    • Examination is handled by Prometric Exam Centers, you can take the exam only in either USA or Canada.
    • Once you have the eligibility information, go to this link and Follow the Instructions.
    • Select the date and place you want to take the exam.
    • If you want to reschedule an exam, you have to pay the following fees:
      • 1 – 5 Business days before the exam: 100$
      • 6 – 30 Days : 60$
      • 31+ Days : 25$
    • There is no refund if you cancel the exam!

    Preparation


    Reports

    • The results will be issued in 4 weeks.
    • it will either show you passed or failed.
    • If you pass Great and I hope Nobody fails!
    • Your results can now be sent to the university you want to apply to!

    i am giving my NBDE-1 around april mid- last week , i havent picked a date yet.... i have first aid, dental decks ( the ones you have posted ) ....from whr can i get the k-n series ....and would these books be sufficient ........i dont want to open too many books n not complete any ..... can you give any advise on how to crack it in the first attempt . Thankyou . :)

    I want to apply for Dentpin. But I don't have last name on my ID cards and Dentpin form shows its mandatory to fill last name. What should I do?

      Hi there,my case was similar to that of yours .so they submitted my name on dentpin as"my name...."in place of first name,,and "no last name" ...in place of last name.hope u find this helpful. Good luck.
